Crochet Baby Dress Size Chart: 0-6 Months to 4 Years

White crochet baby dress with maroon and pink stripes, bow headband and booties

Choosing the right size is the first step to a crochet dress that looks lovely and feels comfortable. Because every Mazagia piece is made to order by hand, we can crochet it to fit your little one. This guide shows our standard sizes, how to measure your baby at home, and a few tips for a perfect fit.

Quick tip: if your baby is between two sizes, choose the bigger one. Crochet has a little stretch, and your baby will grow into it.

How to measure your baby at home

All you need is a soft measuring tape. If you do not have one, use a piece of string or ribbon and then measure it against a ruler.

  1. Chest: wrap the tape around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms. Keep it snug but not tight.
  2. Dress length: measure from the top of the shoulder down to where you would like the dress to end.
  3. Head: wrap the tape around the head, just above the eyebrows and ears.
  4. Foot: measure from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe.
Easy option: take a well-fitting dress your baby already wears, lay it flat, and measure it from armpit to armpit and from shoulder to hem. Send us these numbers and we will match them.

Tips for the perfect fit

  • Growing babies: babies grow fast in the first year, so for a dress you want to use for a few months, go one size up.
  • Special occasions: for an Eid outfit, birthday or photoshoot on a set date, tell us the date and your baby’s age on that day.
  • Layering in winter: if your baby will wear a vest or warm clothes underneath, choose one size up.
  • Custom sizes: because each piece is handmade, we can crochet any size in between. Just send us your measurements.

Frequently asked questions

Do crochet dresses stretch?

Yes, a little. Crochet stitches have natural give, so the dress moves with your baby. It will not lose its shape if it is washed and dried correctly.

Can you make a size that is not on the chart?

Of course. Every Mazagia piece is made to order, so we can crochet newborn sizes, in-between sizes or bigger sizes for older girls. Send us the measurements and we will tell you the price and time.

How long does it take to make my dress?

Each piece is crocheted by hand, so please allow 1 to 2 weeks before it is ready to ship. We deliver all over the world.
